MasVida levels up with Joerns business

Josh RobertsonFORT WORTH, Texas – MasVida Health’s recent acquisition of Joerns Healthcare’s rental business opens the door to new geographies, cross-selling opportunities and referral relationships, says Joshua Robertson, president and CEO.

The companies announced in February that MasVida, which provides respiratory, oxygen, wound therapy and other DME to post-acute care facilities throughout Texas, would acquire Joerns Healthcare’s products and associated operations in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.

“We still have a relationship with Joerns, but we acquired either their locations or at least their people and contracts, and with the deal, we were able to expand geographically to Georgia and Florida,” he said. “We already service every county in Texas and were already operational in Oklahoma and Louisiana.”

Joerns Healthcare announced its plans to exit the long-term care rental business and refocus on medical equipment sales and services in November 2023.

The deal also allows MasVida to cross sell its negative pressure wound therapy and infection protection product portfolio to a new customer base, and expand into Veterans Affairs business, says Robertson.

“Joerns has been very strong in the Georgia and Florida market for the VA,” he said. “With our presence in Texas, we’re hopeful that we can bring our service component and earn (new) VA business in the Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio and Houston markets. We’re really excited about being able to give back and serve the veterans of our country.”

MasVida, which was formed in 2021 when Robertson and his father and business partner, George Robertson, folded JMeds, EMist and Teleos Marketing under one umbrella, and which received a capital investment from Brixey & Meyer Capital in 2023, is well-positioned for growth in a challenging and competitive market, Robertson says.

“We’ve got a good team around us and a focus around trying to provide the highest quality of service,” he said. “Our teammates across the country understand that we’re making patients in facilities healthier, safer and more comfortable.”
