‘We had it easy with Fay’

Tuesday, September 30, 2008

Over a four-day period, Jacksonville, Fla.-based Hall-Moore Medical Supplies logged 85 calls and 78 trips related to Tropical Storm Fay. Of those calls, 43% were for oxygen patients who will cap out on Jan. 1, 2009.

“What will that 43% do next year during hurricane season when our company is no longer receiving rental reimbursement that covers these services,” said Lisa Moore, general manager.

The more severe the storm, the higher the volume of calls, said Moore.

“With a hurricane, we might get 10 times that number of calls,” she said. “We had it easy with Fay.”
