ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- AAHomecare will press lawmakers to eliminate the "in-the-home restriction" for coverage of mobility assistive equipment during its Washington Leadership Conference this month and going forward. The association will also lobby for an expanded interpretation of activities of daily living. The association supports CMS's recent elimination of the bed-or-chair-confined criteria for wheelchairs, but anticipates a meeting with CMS to clarify several issues, including documentation requirements for determination of medical necessity for mobility equipment, and to work toward appropriate implementation of the new national coverage policy.
