AAHomecare event to raise money for patient groups

ATLANTA - AAHomecare will hold its second annual Humanitarian Dinner from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis during Medtrade. The recipients of the funds raised at this year's dinner will be homecare patient organizations, including several that serve the oxygen/respiratory and rehab communities. Over the past year, AAHomecare has begun to work more closely with patient organizations to help raise awareness about common concerns and issues. Last year, AAHomecare hosted a Humanitarian Dinner that raised $75,000. Those funds provided relief to homecare organizations in the Gulf region that were devastated by Hurricane Katrina. "The Humanitarian Dinner underscores our industry's deep commitment to millions of patients across the United States who depend on home care," said AAH Chairman Tom Ryan. Also, AAHomecare announced recently that Mal Mixon, Invacare Chairman and CEO, will receive the Humanitarian of the Year award at this year's dinner Tom Ryan cited Mixon's continuing support for humanitarian efforts for home care and his lengthy service as a champion of strong homecare policy. Specifically, Ryan mentioned the key role Invacare played during the House-Senate conference on the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005. Invacare helped to prevent greater damage to the home oxygen benefit.
