COLUMBIA, S.C. — One week after Palmetto GBA confirmed that Dr. Paul Metzger, medical director for the Region C DMERC, will resign on Oct. 30, a spokesperson has confirmed that two Palmetto GBA vice presidents are also resigning.

Palmetto GBA spokesperson, Elaine Myers, said there is no relation between any of the resignations and the Houston power wheelchair scandal or CMS’s Operation Wheeler Dealer. She characterized the departures as “strictly coincidental.”

The new retirees at Palmetto GBA are Sue Pearcy, vice president of Region C’s Medicare Integrity Program, and John Dart, vice president of Medicare Part B operations.

Rick Wade has been named the new vice president of Medicare Part B operations. Region C expects to fill Pearcy’s spot shortly.
