Air Products offloads bulk of healthcare biz

LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa. - Air Products has sold all of its home infusion business to OptionCare Enterprises, a subsidiary of Walgreens, it announced today.

Air Products has also sold some elements of its respiratory and home medical equipment business to OptionCare. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The transaction represents nearly 50% of the remaining Air Products Healthcare Group portfolio and includes 15 locations with 550 employees serving about 25,000 patients.

Previously, Air Products had sold its A&J Care locations in New York and its COPD Services locations in New Jersey to Landauer Metropolitan. It also sold Air Products Seating and Mobility to ATG Rehab.

The OptionCare transaction includes the home infusion therapy business of American Homecare Supply (serving the Atlanta area and northern Georgia); Ultra Care and Dependicare (Chicago area); Rx Pharmacy Services and Mosso's Medical Supply Company (Pittsburgh area and western Pennsylvania); Collins I.V. Care (Connecticut); and Air Products Healthcare Pharmacy (Lehigh Valley, Pa., Philadelphia area and southern New Jersey).

OptionCare has 100 accredited homecare facilities in 36 states.
