SAN JOSE, Calif.--The global ambulatory and bathroom aids market will reach $1.8 billion by 2010, according to a report released last week by Global Industry Analysts. Driving the growth: a steadily aging population and a rise in diseases associated with advancing age, analysts stated. Walkers represent the fastest growing item in the ambulatory and bathroom aids market, with a compounding annual growth rate of 7%. Analysts forecast patient seating and positioning aids to generate $67.2 million by 2010 and bathroom aids to reach $105.8 million by 2009. The United States and Europe make up about 70% of the growing market, but Asia Pacific “is likely to emerge as the most lucrative market, registering fastest in value and volume,” analysts stated.
