American Homecare Supply changes name

June 2, 2003 LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa. - Further cementing its relationship to industrial gas giant Air Products, American Homecare Supply (AHS) changed its name last month to Air Products Healthcare. Air Products acquired AHS in October for $165 million. Local and regional companies that are part of Air Products Healthcare will retain their original names for now, the company stated in a release. AHS now has branches stretching from New Hampshire south through West Virginia. The company also operates in Illinois. "Our approach to growing our homecare business is in some ways similar to what Air Products has been doing in other businesses around the world," said Karel Schroder, Air Products' vice president and general manager, Global Healthcare. "When entering new markets, there are times when we partner with small and, in some cases, family owned operations, keeping the local management teams to maintain continuity. We have been very successful with this approach and together with Air Products Healthcare, we are creating a global homecare company with a local touch."
