Andover boosts O&P presence

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - To help "consolidate the fragmented distribution channel for orthopedics, podiatry and urology," Andover Medical announced last week that it plans to buy New York-based Ortho-Medical. Andover plans to build a single source provider for O& P and urology, and the Ortho-Medical deal is the first in a planned series of acquisitions that will allow the company to increase profits and efficiency. "This acquisition is expected to position Ortho-Medical Products for continued strong growth and enable it to be part of this needed industry consolidation, which will result in better customer service and higher operating margins," said Marc Waldman, executive vice president of business development for Ortho-Medical. "Once this deal closes, I plan on intensifying my efforts to find other strategic acquisitions for AMI." Ortho-Medical is a full service provider of DME, respiratory and O&P. It services the following areas: a large part of New York, including the five boroughs of New York City and Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester Counties; northern New Jersey; and Connecticut.
