Apria promotes COO to president

August 9, 2004 LAKE FOREST, Calif. - Apria Healthcare has promoted Lawrence A. Mastrovich to president in addition to his existing title of chief operating officer. which he has held since 2002. Announcing the promotion last week, Lawrence M. Higby, Apria's chief executive officer, said, "In his most recent role as COO, Larry has contributed significantly to the success of the company over the past two years.  His leadership in standardizing our operations, accelerating our acquisition integration process, as well as leading change in our information systems and productivity projects has continued to make Apria's operations the leader of the industry.  His broad background of field operations, revenue management and information systems enables him to lead cross-functional solutions to our complex healthcare business challenges." Higby will retain his role as CEO of the company, and the company's organizational structure will not change. A 1984 graduate of Clarion University of Pennsylvania, Mastrovich began his career with Apria in Philadelphia, Pa. as a management trainee.  During his 20-year career, he assumed progressively more responsible roles as district manager, regional vice president of operations, and division vice president of operations for the Northeast Division.  In 1997, he was named corporate executive vice president of revenue management and subsequently assumed the role of executive vice president of sales. From August, 2001 through April, 2002 he served as president and chief operating officer of TechRx, a Pittsburgh, Pa.-based software developer serving the pharmacy industry.
