PORTLAND, Maine--With a name like Black Bear Medical, it didn't pay to invest in Google pay-per-click advertising, says President Jim Greatorex.
“We're finding that 90% of people are finding us through searching our name,” he said. “It doesn't make a lot of sense to pay for advertising.”
Greatorex estimated he spent about $300 per month on the Google ad for about 12 months.
“It was definitely not worth that,” he said. “We're probably going to discontinue it.”
The 21 year-old company has locations in Portland and Bangor - two of Maine's largest cities - and a satellite location in Greenland, N.H.
“If I had a brand-new company, I might try a different (advertising) approach,” said Greatorex.
