MTS buys Scan Medical
WESTON, Mass. — Mobility Transfer Systems, a 10-year-old vendor specializing in patient assist handles, is adding transfer boards, gait belts, gurneys and patient transfer and mobility slides to its product line. After several months of negotiating, MTS acquired Scan Medical of Belvadere, Calif., in late February. MTS has consolidated operations in Mawssachusetts. “It’s a great addition to our product line,” said MTS owner Thomas Leoutsakos. “It’s a great asset to our customer base. It really complements the products we already sell.” Leoutsakos said his 20-employee company was the first on the market to offer bed handles. By expanding its product line he is anticipating a 25% increase within the first year. Mobility Transfer Systems’ products, Leoutsakos said, are not driven by Medicare reimbursements, providing a good cash sale for suppliers. “This is a great in-road into other distribution areas, other venues,” he said.
