Briefs: Mediware expands HME presence

LENEXA, Kan. - Mediware has acquired the assets of CareCentric's home medical equipment, home health and home infusion software businesses, it announced in April. As a result of the deal, Mediware, which has more of a presence in the acute care market, will pick up more than 300 new customers and related products, services and contracts. Mediware will add CareCentric's latest product, Caretinuum, and its legacy products, MestaMed and PharMed, to its existing Alternate Care Solutions product portfolio.

Bruno, Braun partner

OCONOMOWOC, Wis., and WINAMAC, Ind. - Bruno Independent Living Aids and the Braun Corporation announced March 14 that they've entered into a partnership that will result in a global expansion. Braun has acquired partial ownership in Autoadapt AB, a manufacturer of mobility products based in Sweden. Bruno acquired Autoadapt in 2002. Now the two companies own Autoadapt 50/50. The partnership positions Autoadapt to offer mobility products to customers throughout Europe and the Middle East.

Pride re-brands lifts

EXETER, Pa. - Pride Mobility Products announced on March 25 that it is re-branding Pride Silver Star Lifts and Ramps to Pride Lifts and Ramps. Pride acquired Silver Star in 2005 and since then it has been testing, improving and redesigning the lift and ramp line. Product innovations include the Outlander Exterior Lift, Backpacker AVP and new modular rubber threshold ramps.

AG buys SP

ST. LOUIS - AG Industries has acquired SP Medical, a Superior Products Company, the companies announced March 11. Both companies sell direct to their home healthcare customers. "Our model mirrors that of AG industries," stated Tim Austin, formerly managing director of SP Medical, now vice president of sales and business development at AG Industries. SP will relocate its manufacturing and sales offices to St. Louis.
