Centene beats Apria/ Lincare to the punch

ST. LOUIS -- Centene Corporation in July paid $35 million in cash for AirLogix, a provider of respiratory disease management. Some in the HME industry believed that Lincare or Apria might eventually purchase the managed care sub-contractor. Airlogix and its free-lance staff of more than 200 respiratory therapists reduce per-beneficary healthcare expenses through disease management. Centene said the Airlogix acquisition would boost its revenues by $18 million in 2005.
