Cover incontinence supplies, judge rules

TUCSON, Ariz. - The federal judge in a class action lawsuit agreed with the Arizona Center for Disability Law that the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System violated federal Medicaid law by denying disabled children preventive care. Previously, disposable briefs were covered only if children developed open sores. About 6,000 Arizona children receive long-term care through the state, and the deputy director of AHCCCS said supplying diapers to incontinent children could cost up to $15 million annually.
