Covidien lightens up with portable vent

BOULDER, Colo.--Covidien's new Puritan Bennett 540 portable ventilator weighs 9.9 pounds and runs on a lithium-ion battery that provides up to 11 hours of use. The 540 can be used by patients of all ages - adults, children and infants as small as 11 pounds. It's designed for intra-hospital transport, long-term care facilities and long-term home care, according to Covidien.
