Doubek Medical acquires Lake Medical, expands

ALSIP, Ill. - Doubek Medical Supply and Pharmacy acquired Lake Medical Supply in October 2005. The deal allows Doubek to expand its diabetes offerings. "We had a good working relationship, and it seemed natural," said Dave Doubek, president of the Alsip, Ohio-based company. Former Lake Supply owner Maureen Lake said it was important to keep the business local. "They still answer the phone with a person's voice," said Lake. Doubek is a family owned company with more than 50 years in the industry. Terms of the deal were not disclosed but Lake enjoys sales of $2 million annually. In addition to diabetes supplies, Doubek Medical carries wound care, nutritional, urologicals and disposables.
