WASHINGTON - If you've ever wanted to complain - or rave - to CMS about your regional carrier, you may have a chance to do so.
In January, CMS sent out a survey to give Medicare providers a chance to evaluate the performance of their CMS intermediaries and carriers in a number of different areas: claims processing, reimbursement, medical review, appeals, education and communication.
The 17-page survey was sent to 8,200 providers served by 12 contractors. Responses are due in March, with a report on findings expected by June. CMS plans to use the survey to help develop best practices and quality-improvement.
Only providers who received the survey can complete them, in order to preserve a random sample.
