Graham-Field bolsters bariatric products offering

ATLANTA, Ga. - Graham-Field last month introduced several new Lumex Bathroom Safety Products designed specifically for the bariatric patient. “Our long term care and home care customers have been asking us for more products specifically designed for the bariatric market, particularly bathroom safety products where slippery surfaces pose a greater risk to the patient and caregiver,” said Lawrence de la Haba, Graham-Field's vice president of marketing. The new line of Lumex products features bath seats, transfer benches, three-in-one commodes and a drop arm commode. The Lumex Imperial Collection of Bathroom Safety Products can safely accommodate patients up to 400 pounds. The Lumex Bariatric Collection of Bathroom Safety Products can safely accommodate patients up to 500 pounds. “This is just the first stage of a major new product initiative of specialized healthcare products for the bariatric patient. We are currently testing products that have even greater weight capacity so we can address the special needs of even heavier patients,” said Angela Mayfield, Graham-Field's director of product management. Added de la Haba, “The market for these products is growing faster than for standard products. We have responded to this demand with a wide range of products specifically designed for the bariatric patient. We have also updated our Web site to include a specialized search for these products to make it easier for our customers to find the exact bariatric product they need. These new bathroom safety products will now allow customers to purchase all of their standard and bariatric products from a single source.”
