HME News names new publisher

YARMOUTH, Maine - HME News, the leading news source for the home medical equipment industry, has named Sarah Flanagan publisher effective Nov. 4.

It's a return to United Publications—publisher of HME News and Security Systems News—for Flanagan. She was a regional sales manager for Security Systems News from March 2014 to September 2016.

“I'm thrilled to be back at United Publications, working with and helping to guide the extremely talented team at HME News,” said Flanagan, who will be at Medtrade, Oct. 21-23 in Atlanta. “I'm looking forward to learning everything I can about the HME industry, and growing and expanding our offerings at HME News.”

Flanagan has more than 20 years of sales experience in print, digital and e-media products, as well as conferences. Most recently, she was sales manager for Security Sales & Integration and Campus Safety Magazine.

In her new role, Flanagan will oversee sales, marketing, audience development and circulation for both HME News and Security Systems News.

Rick Rector, the current president of United Publications and publisher of HME News and Security Systems News, plans to retire in early 2020. He became publisher of HME News in 2002, and president of United Publications in 2018.

“I'm very pleased to welcome Sarah back to United,” he said. “During her previous time with us, she proved to have excellent sales skills, and to be an innovative and dynamic leader. I look forward to introducing her to the HME community and handing HME News over to her stewardship.”

VGM bought United Publications, which also hosts the HME News Business Summit and SecurityNext conferences, in April 2019.
