PITTSBURGH -- Mergers and acquisition activity showed some real sizzle in 2004, with overall home health activity up 14.4%, according to the Braff Group. In 2003, there were 86 public and non-publicly announced HME deals. In 2004, that number jumped to 90. That's a 4.7% increase. Overall, HME M&A activity in 2004, represented 40.5% of all home health deals. In 2003, HME activity represented 44.3% of all deals. In terms of number of deals, the HHA sector, with 57 deals in 2004, placed second to HME.
