Hospital, providers go head-to-head

RINGEWOOD, N.J. - Providers here that sell home medical equipment have a new competitor: Valley Hospital. The hospital in August launched the Valley Health Marketplace, an online store offering a wide range of products, including HME. "Healthcare retail is a new idea for hospitals," stated Rita Donato-Edwards, Valley's director of retail strategies, in a release. The release goes on to state: "Many of the items in the online store are products that may be hard to find. With its comprehensive range of products, multiple stops for medical supplies on the way home from the hospital or during recovery are a thing of the past."
