Industry submits comments on paperwork burden

WASHINGTON--The rehab industry, including NRRTS and AAHomecare's Rehab and Assistive Technology Council (RATC), submitted comments to CMS by June 1 on the paperwork burden for power mobility devices. CMS has to put its documentation requirements out for public comment every so often, says Simon Margolis, executive director of NRRTS. “I'm not sure that our comments will affect their policy in the short term, but if we don't submit comments, we're complying,” he said. PMDs require a face-to-face exam by a physician, a written prescription and a delivery receipt within 45 days of the exam. The industry has long argued the requirements are confusing and place undue burden on rehab providers.
