Ivy League professor joins Respironics

MURRYSVILLE, Pa. - Respironics named a physician with a long list of credentials, including professor of sleep medicine at Harvard Medical School, as its chief medical officer in April. In addition to teaching, David White serves as director of the clinical sleep disorders program at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Beginning May 1, 2006, he began leading Respironics' clinical research strategies and programs in the sleep and respiratory markets. "Increasing the breadth and scope of our clinical research capabilities is a key element of our strategy, which calls for continued expansion of our presence in the sleep and respiratory markets," said John Miclot, president and CEO of Respironics, in a company release. White's credentials also include the editor-in-chief post at SLEEP, the journal of the American Sleep Disorders Association. Additionally, he chairs the Test Writing Committee for the first American Board of Medical Specialties Board Exam in Sleep Medicine.
