Landauer: 'It is critical to continue to build scale'

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - Landauer Metropolitan has acquired two Air Products-owned providers, A&J Care and C.O.P.D. services, the company announced last week. Both companies have locations in the New York metropolitan area and in New Jersey. "We are very excited about these acquisitions," stated Landauer CEO Louis Rocco in a release. "We believe A&J and C.O.P.D. will allow us to further strengthen our position in the New York metropolitan, New Jersey and Philadelphia areas." Air Products announced in July that it was selling its U.S. healthcare business. The industrial gas giant entered the market in 2002 when it acquired American Homecare Supply for $165 million, and grew it to $271 million in 2007. With A&J and C.O.P.D, Landauer will have at total of 500 employees and nine locations. The provider has plans for further growth, said CFO Joe Luceri. "With a few more selective acquisitions and continued organic growth, we believe we can achieve or exceed our growth and profitability targets for 2009 through 2011," he stated in a release. "As our industry copes with continuing regulatory challenges, it is critical for us to continue to build scale to operate efficiently and offer high levels of service and clinical capability."
