Let the games begin

In nearly a year since last year’s Medtrade show, the industry has had scant time to catch its breathe.

Just when it looked like competitive bidding might be on the ropes, it re-emerged as part of Medicare reform legislation. Only this time it’s doing a jig with a handful of other scary ghouls: a proposed seven-year CPI freeze and an all-out attack on the average wholesale pricing (AWP) methodology for Medicare drug reimbursement. To name just two.

This year’s Medtrade shows presents a welcome respite for the battle weary, a chance to break bread with friends, do some business and recharge your batteries for the challenging days sure to come.

This special Medtrade section is just the place to start. Here’ you’ll find dozens of new product descriptions. You also can read about the show’s effort to reach out to case managers, a nod to the critical role they play in your referral business.

Who are the show’s three largest exhibitors as measured by booth size? Check out articles on Invacare, Pride Mobility, and Sunrise Medical for the answer, and to find what these industry leaders have planned for you, their customers. We’ll continue our coverage of the 10 largest exhibitors as part of our reporting from the show floor.

Revisit what has become a staple of our Medtrade coverage: the Medtrade Picks. Tune in here if you’re curious to find out what a couple of top-notch providers feel are ‘must-see’ educational seminars. Again, we’ll run additional Medtrade Picks as part of our onsite coverage.

Like last year, we’ll be producing Show Daily newpapers at Medtrade. If you’ve got a hot tip or story idea or just want to say hello, stop by Booth 745.
