MED forms two partnerships

LUBBOCK, Texas - In the first phase of what promises to be a groundbreaking strategic campaign, MED Group has announced the formation of two new partnerships designed to invigorate its members' businesses. The national HME provider organization has signed agreements with Louisville, Ky.-based ZirMed to provide revenue cycle management services and Salt Lake City, Utah-based Cirrus Data for online sales lead generation. Both deals represent a bold new direction for MED that its leadership believes will give members a distinct competitive advantage. "This is a byproduct of our value proposition for both members and prospective members," said Jeff Woodham, senior vice president of operations. "Competitive bidding, new power mobility codes and the Deficit Reduction Act are requiring that players adapt to a changing landscape. We are taking a laser focus on the total operation of the HME provider, including revenues, costs and staffing." The ZirMed program works in conjunction with automated back-office systems to facilitate online claims submission. Using the ZirMed portal, company officials say providers have access to faster claims submission, coding, electronic remittance retrieval and patient statement distribution. Speeding up the entire process gives users the ability to chart a smoother cash flow, lower days outstanding levels and a reduction in overall administrative costs. Cirrus Data will help MED members tap into the emerging Internet marketplace, where consumers are said to be spending time researching home medical equipment, such as diabetic supplies and mobility, respiratory and sleep products.
