The MED Group: At its summit

LUBBOCK, Texas - The MED Group drew a whopping 130 assistive technology professionals (ATPs) to Denver from May 18-20 for its annual Rehab Summit, it announced this week.

Attendance this year was boosted by ATG Rehab, which decided to hold its annual meeting in conjunction with the summit, MED officials say.

“We had an excellent line-up of speakers,” said David Jones, director of MED's National Rehab Network. “We heard comments from many attendees that it was the best education outside of the International Seating Symposium in a long time.”

Speakers included Kelly Waugh, a physical therapist and ATP who discussed seating options and how they affect not only patients but also a rehab provider's bottom line.

“If a patient has the appropriate seating system from the beginning, there's less need for costly follow-ups,” Jones said.

Manufacturer presentations included Tom Borcherding of The Roho Group and Brad Peterson of Motion Concepts.

In all, there were more than 170 participants, including 23 manufacturer sponsors.
