MP TotalCare acquires direct-to-consumer wound care business

July 26, 2004 TAMPA, Fla. - MP TotalCare announced Friday that it has acquired Englewood, Colo.-based Gericare Providers, one of the largest national suppliers of direct-to-consumer wound care products. Gericare targets the specialty medical products market and has made a name for itself in chronic wound care treatments, including off-loading devices and compression therapy. "Gericare is a dynamic, growing business with an impressive reputation for excellent service to customers with chronic wounds," Howard Deutsch, chairman and CEO of MP TotalCare, said in a press release. "The wound care market is large and growing and we believe it is an excellent complementary addition to MP TotalCare's existing product offerings." MP Totalcare provides diabetes testing supplies, respiratory medications, urological products and wound care supplies directly to customers nationwide. It also provides pharmacy outsourcing services to third parties, including retail pharmacies, insurance companies and healthcare service providers. Mitch Knutson, president of Gericare, will join MP TotalCare as executive vice president.
