New clinic offers seating solutions

ORANGE PARK, Fla.--With the recent opening of her wheelchair clinic, Cindi Petito now has patients knocking at her door. Since 2001, Petito, an occupational therapist (OT) and assistive technology practitioner (ATP), has run a home-based occupational therapy practice, Seating Solutions. This summer, she opened a wheelchair clinic. “By having the patient come to me, I can do trials with them in different seating systems with different power chairs and different electronics,” said Petito. Patients can have their initial evaluation in the home or in the clinic, she said. The clinic allows patients to see multiple pieces of equipment at once. The 1,200-square-foot space consists of three treatment rooms and one large wheelchair clinic room. The clinic also features shower chairs and literature on lift systems and other home modification options, said Petito. While marketing the clinic to physicians and home health agencies, Petito also promotes her Web site, www.seatingsolutionsinc.com, as an educational tool for doctors and therapists.
