New group seeks input

MARTINEZ, Ga. - The Committee to Save Independent HME Suppliers (CSI: HME) wants to know where providers stand on oxygen reform and other industry issues.

The new group sent a survey this week to all state, regional and national industry associations and member organizations. It will use the results to “determine the majority position of the industry and advance that position through its lobby and public relations efforts,” it stated in a release.

“We hope every HME organization supports this survey and helps us get it out to their members,” stated David Petsch, managing director of CSI: HME, in the release. “We want to be as inclusive as possible in determining the message.”

Questions on the survey include:

• Do you support passage of H.R. 2373 to repeal the 36-month cap on home oxygen payments?

• Do you support an oxygen reform plan that removes home oxygen from the DMEPOS benefit into a separate provider status category?

• To which industry groups do you belong?

• Would you contribute to a fund to support a lobbyist in Washington that works directly for the independent provider community?

CSI: HME will use more surveys in the coming weeks to gather details on more specific topics.
