NRRTS launches event...

WASHINGTON - NRRTS, with the help of NCART and the University of Pittsburgh, has launched an educational and legislative conference in a major play to boost provider participation. The Continuing Education and Legislative Advocacy Conference (CELA) takes the place of NCART's annual legislative fly-in. "Often providers don't have enough money to do their continuing education and the fly-in," said Sharon Hildebrandt, NCART's executive director. "We thought if we combined everything, there would be more of an incentive for providers to participate." CELA will take place April 23-25 at the Holiday Inn Washington Dulles International Airport, about a half hour outside Washington, D.C. The cost to attend: $125 for NRRTS registrants; $175 for friends of NRRTS (FONs) and NCART members; and $250 for all others. The conference will feature a welcome reception, several breakout sessions, Capitol Hill visits and a closing session. Participants have the opportunity to earn 10 CECs and 1 CEU. Last year's NCART fly-in attracted 67 providers and others to Washington, D.C. CELA should attract at least double that number, said Simon Margolis, NRRTS's executive director. "We think we can do that no problem," he said. "This is the kind of cooperative effort that should have been happening a long time ago. NRRTS, NCART and UPitt--that's a powerful threesome, in terms of giving this program legitimacy." NRRTS made it a goal to keep the cost of attending the conference low, Margolis said. Flights to Dulles are reasonable, and rooms at the Holiday Inn are $129 a night. Additionally, registration includes continental breakfasts and transportation to and from Capitol Hill.
