LONGMONT, Colo. - A high-profile rehab expert says Sunrise Medical's recent specialization and a "great offer" from the company have lured him from the MED Group's National Rehab Network. W.B. Mick left a two-year stint as executive director of the rehab network last month to join Sunrise Medical - for the second time - as its v.p. of rehab sales. Mick has already logged nine years with the company from 1989 to 1998 as a western regional sales manager and a senior product manager for manual products. "I had no intention of leaving the MED Group," Mick said. "But I've been watching [Sunrise] over the past year, and good things will be happening there over the next 18 months." Mick points to Sunrise's recent decision to realign its sales team into specific categories, including rehab, as the first of those "good things." Mick will coach the new rehab team, which now includes two regional managers (East and West), about two dozen sales representatives and a training team. "Right now, our goals are to penetrate the dealer network and strengthen Sunrise's ties with clinicians specializing in rehab and end-users," he said. "It's exciting." "It's exciting" for Sunrise management, too. In Mick, the company gains an executive whose involvement in the rehab industry appears to be endless. In addition to the rehab network, Mick has been involved with AAHomecare and its Re/hab and Assistive Technology Council (RATC), NRRTS and RESNA. "At a time when the HME dealer is faced by a multitude of challenges, we are very fortunate to be putting a best face forward in the industry," Mike Hammes, Sunrise's chairman and CEO, said of Mick in a prepared statement.
