Quality Medical Group, at your service

SOMERSET, N.J. - Quality Medical Group, in its 20th year of business, wants to expand its business nationally with support from a new 25,000-square-foot home base here.

The company, which services complex respiratory equipment like ventilators for a range of providers, including HME providers, also has support offices in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware, and employs about 60 people.

“We'd like to reach our depot business—when equipment comes in to our shop to be repaired/troubleshot—across the country on a ship-in basis,” said Harry Brickman, director of information systems and marketing.

Quality Medical Group, which also sends out technicians for field service across the Mid-Atlantic, was previously headquartered in a 17,000-square-foot building in South Plainfield, N.J., and before that the basement of Andy Bythell, co-owner and president.

The company previously took a stab at significantly expanding its reach in 2004, when it started Quality Medical South in Florida. But it sold the majority of its interests in that company in 2009 and fully exited in 2015.

“It wasn't a good fit,” said Jeff Brown, co-owner and vice president of business development. “We like to give a white glove treatment.”

How will Quality Medical Group deliver that white-glove treatment, as well as its promise of a one-week turnaround, to a provider that's, say, in California?

“We're working out the shipping details," Brickman said. "We identify them as a ship customer, move their equipment to the front of the line and usually do a two-day ship.”

In pursuing more national business, Quality Medical Group has one advantage over the competition, company officials say.

“We're the only service center in the country for the VOCSN,  (the new multi-function vent from Ventec),” Brown said.
