Report: Wheelchairs to continue growth

SAN JOSE, Calif.- The worldwide market for power and manual wheelchairs will maintain a compound annual growth rate of 6.57% from 2000 to 2010, reaching more than 4.2 million units by 2010, according to a report released in March by Global Industry Analysts. Manual wheelchairs comprise the largest piece of the pie at 48% of dollar share in 2007, the report stated. The area of biggest growth, however, lies with power scooters, which will maintain a compound annual growth rate of 8% from 2000 to 2010, according to the report
