RESNA highlights tech experience Conference will feature a stage where new product demos will run

Andrea van HookARLINGTON, Va. – The theme of this year’s annual RESNA conference, “Move to the beAT of Innovation,” perfectly marries the location, New Orleans, with the organization’s top priority.

“New Orleans is known for its great music, and innovation is what RESNA is all about,” said Andrea Van Hook, executive director.

The conference, scheduled for July 24-26, and its theme also celebrate being together in person after three years of virtual gatherings.

HME News: How did you build out this year's offerings?

Andrea Van Hook: We did a ton of stakeholder interviews and a large survey. Close to 750 people participated and overwhelmingly what came through was that this was an opportunity to connect with friends and colleagues, share ideas and try out new technology. So, we’re still doing education sessions, but we’ve redesigned the two and a half days so that attendees can connect with each other and with our solution providers in the experience hall.

HME: Tell me more about the experience hall.

Van Hook: Instead of the exhibit hall, it’s the experience hall because people are going there to experience technology. So instead of booths, it’s more of a space where people can try things out.

HME News: What else is different this year?

Van Hook: We now have an innovation stage where we’re going to run new product demos and new technology presentations the whole time. In addition, our Developers Showcase—which used to be a separate event for two hours in the evening—is now going to be throughout the conference. The developers will be in the experience hall and you're going to be able to see technology that isn't even on the market yet. We’re very excited about all of that.
