The Scooter Store hires former NSC chief

September 8, 2003 NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas - The Scooter Store, the nation's leading provider of power mobility vehicles, has named Tom Hood vice president of government relations-regulatory affairs. Hood brings more than 15 years of experience in the healthcare field, with particular expertise in billing and compliance issues. "The Scooter Store is extremely pleased to have someone with the background and reputation that Tom has earned in his notable career," said Tim Zipp, executive vice president for government affairs. "He will be a tremendous asset in our interactions throughout the industry and with regulators in Washington." Prior to joining The Scooter Store, Hood was director of the National Supplier Clearinghouse and senior vice president of government relations and compliance at TechHealth. He served as president of Jane's Billing and Consultation and had a 30-year career in the U. S. Navy. Hood was a co-founder of TRICARE (formerly known as Champus), the Defense Department's health plan for military personnel and their families. The Scooter Store operates 58 distribution centers coast-to-coast.
