SAN DIEGO - The U.S. military has given SeQual Technologies funding to help the company develop a smaller, lighter and more "extreme" version of its Eclipse portable oxygen concentrator, the company announced last month. The new unit could weigh in at only 7 pounds and be small enough to attach to a soldier's backpack, yet deliver as much as four liters of medical grade oxygen per minute. Providing oxygen quickly to troops wounded in battle can be crucial to life-saving efforts. The Eclipse currently weighs 17 pounds.
