Sequestration update: Larger bill in the works?

WASHINGTON – AAHomecare this week reported that an updated bill may be introduced to extend the moratorium on the 2% Medicare sequester cuts through the end of 2021 and address other potentially looming cuts.

The current moratorium on the sequester cuts is set to expire March 31.

“AAHomecare and our health care sector coalition partners have redoubled efforts to engage legislators in support of extending the pause on these cuts,” the association wrote in a bulletin.

The updated bill is expected to also waive further potential Medicare cuts, starting in fiscal year 2022, in response to the application of the 2010 pay-as-you-go legislation that triggers automatic cuts across a range of federal programs to cover deficit spending increases. As things stand right now, there would be a 4% cut for Medicare providers.

AAHomecare is asking providers to reach out to their lawmakers to ask them to extend the moratorium and waive the PAYGO requirements.
