Sleep provider continues regional growth spurt

TOTOWA, N.J. - Sleep Services of America (SSA) acquired Southern Sleep Technologies and Southern Home Respiratory Care for $3 million, the company announced July 17. The move allows SSA to continue its expansion in the Atlanta area. In April, the company bought Do You Snore, Southern Medical Equipment and Advanced Sleep Technologies of Georgia for $11.5 million. "This acquisition propels our strategy of providing the patient with a complete range of sleep services," said SSA President John Mathias in a release. Southern Sleep provides sleep diagnostic services in both free-standing and hospital sleep labs; Southern Home Respiratory provides CPAPs. The companies had revenues of $2.1 million in 2006. SSA is a subsidiary of Vital Signs, a manufacturer of mostly single-use medical products, including sleep and ventilation products.
