Trac gains traction

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Trac Medical Solutions has found another believer in Memorial Hermann Home Health, a division of one of the nation's largest and most respected not-for-profit healthcare systems. Last month, Memorial agreed to fully deploy Trac Medical's CareCert e-CMN system in 45 days. The deal follows a test-run with CareCert that memorial found successful. "One of our critical objectives is to cut the percentage of `held revenue' over 30 days outstanding from about 50 percent now to below 15 percent," said Frances Lekwart, assistant vice president at Memorial. ResMed files patent infringement lawsuit SAN DIEGO - ResMed has filed a lawsuit in Federal District Court in San Diego against Fisher & Paykel Healthcare. The ResMed complaint seeks a judgment that selected Fisher & Paykel Healthcare mask products (ACLAIM and ACLAIM 2 masks) infringe patents held by ResMed. The complaint further charges the defendant with the copying of ResMed proprietary mask technology, and alleges trade dress and common law violations relating to the appearance of ResMed mask products. Manufacturer's HME association to launch SARASOTA, Fla. - A group that wants to provide a voice and an educational resource for manufacturers announced the formation of the Homecare Product Manufacturers Association last month. While most associations form to provide a bully pulpit for an industry's political activity, the new association plans to cede that responsibility to AAHomecare, concentrating instead on the peculiar heretofore unmet needs of manufacturers. "Manufacturers are so different from dealers," said Bob Zandee, the new group's founder. "They're concerned with the FDA, with 510(k), with import, with export, with marketing. Many of the issues for manufacturers are just completely different."
