PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh in mid-December launched an "online/on-demand" course for rehab technology suppliers, clinicians and others preparing for RESNA's ATS or ATP exams. Using a program called Mediasite Live, users can see and hear four, two-hour lectures any time they want. They can also pause, rewind and replay sections of the lectures as needed. Despite CMS's decision to eliminate a requirement that ATPs conduct evaluations for certain power wheelchairs, UPitt stands by its course. "We continue to endorse the ATP and ATS certification; therefore, we will make resources available to support people who wish to pursue these credentials that promote a high standard of practice," said Mark Schmeler, director of UPitt's Department of Rehabilitation Science and Technology Continuing Education Program (RSTCE).
