WASHINGTON - Long-time HCFA/CMS official Bob Wardwell, a frequent speaker at industry events,

has retired from the Medicare ranks after 30 years and joined the Visiting Nursing Associations of America. While more involved in the nursing side of home health care, Wardwell also supervised the division responsible for implementing inherent reasonableness. "He's a very reasonable person to deal with," said Cara Bachenheimer, a healthcare attorney with Epstein Becker & Green in Washington, D.C. "Who ever takes his place could dictate some changes that could have an impact on the industry. He will definitely be a loss to the HME industry." HME
