Pretty in pink
It's that time of year again. My friend Kellie blasted me with an email requesting donations in support of her Walk for Hope. You see, every year, she and a multitude of family members (and she's got a BIG family) walk to raise funds for the prevention and treatment of breast cancer.
That reminded me that October looms in all its red and gold glory. But of course, for women's health providers, the color pink also comes to mind. That's because October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and everything from pink lipstick to pink kitchen appliances will be touted as ways to raise money to support this important cause. (Before you buy, or donate to any other pink cause, please ensure you know where your greens will go).
So, this week I began dialing women's health providers to see what sort of good, pink fun they plan to drum up. Vicki Jones, in Texas, is, as always, right on top of things. This year her theme is "Passion for Pink" and she's got pink promotions scheduled for every day of the month.
I also know our readers are also very involved in walks and other fundraisers just like Kellie is and I look forward to those stories as well.
Of course, I'll donate to Kellie's cause (pay day's tomorrow, Kel) and wish her luck and good weather on October 16.
