AABCP seeks achievers

HOUSTON - The American Association of Breast Care Professionals is seeking nominations for its 1st Annual Life Achievement Award to be presented at the AABCP Global Breast Care Summit & Expo July 12. The award committee will consider individuals who have demonstrated care, compassion and advocacy for the post-mastectomy care profession. The Summit takes place July 10-12 at Harrah's New Orleans. LAKE FOREST, Calif. - Apria Healthcare will no longer file reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), according to a Form-8K dated Jan. 21. Apria was obligated to file periodic reports with the SEC pursuant to the terms of indenture governing the company's outstanding 12.375% senior secured notes due 2014. Association petitions support for breast bill

HOUSTON - Frustrated with the slow progress of a bill that would require Medicare to pay for custom breast forms, the American Association of Breast Care Professionals (AABCP) in July launched an online petition.
"We are hoping to get 10,000 signatures so that we can bring it to Congress and say, 'See, there's support for this,'" said Rhonda Turner, executive director of AABCP. "We are hoping our members, as well as the breast care community at large, manufacturers and consumers will (sign the petition)."

WASHINGTON - A bill that would require Medicare to cover compression garments and other items used to treat lymphedema began making the rounds in February, but some industry stakeholders say it needs some clarification.
