Budesonide: Competing generics on the horizon

BALTIMORE - The needle barely moved on the average sales price (ASP) figures for nebulizer medications, according to the latest figures, released in December. The only neb-med to show any significant change was budesonide (J7626), which rose 23.8 cents to $4.63 per dose.
While an increase is always welcome, there's still not a lot of margin on the drug, says provider Sam Jarzcynski, who stocked up in advance of an October price increase.

TEXARKANA, Texas - Neb-med industry insiders are remaining mum about the sale in June of Senior Respiratory Solutions to Med4Home, Lincare's nebulizer medication business.
Senior Respiratory confirmed the sale, but had no further comment, so we combed through our archives to see what we had written about these companies before.

Rotech's revenues up

ORLANDO, Fla. - Rotech Healthcare's first quarter 2010 revenues rose about 9% compared to first quarter 2009, the company reported May 10.
Excluding nebulizer medications, net revenues were $110.6 million--an increase of $9.3 million--for the quarter ended March 31.
The company also reported that:
* Net revenues from non-Medicare payers increased to 59% from 56.5% in first quarter 2009
* Adjusted EBITDA increased to $25.2 million from $21.2 million in first quarter 2009
