Insulet sells Neighborhood Diabetes


BEDFORD, Mass. – Insulet Corp. has announced plans to sell Neighborhood Diabetes to Liberty Medical for $5 million. Insulet acquired Woburn, Mass.-based Neighborhood Diabetes for $63 million in 2011.

Yesterday, while taking a snow afternoon, I finally managed to connect with Neighborhood Diabetes (who I have actually talked to in the past for stories—kind of cool) that I was referred to by the diabetes center to get the CGM.

The good

Neighborhood Diabetes passes test


WOBURN, Mass. – For calendar year 2010, Neighborhood Diabetes submitted claims for testing supplies without the KL modifier in accordance with Medicare billing requirements, according to a review conducted by the Office of Inspector General (OIG).

Insulet likes the Neighborhood


WOBURN, Mass. - Talk about a sweet deal. Insulin pump manufacturer Insulet in June acquired Neighborhood Diabetes for $63 million.

Diabetes supplies clobbered


When the bid amounts for Round 1.2 of national competitive bidding were released in July, mail order diabetes supplies once again took the biggest hit--an average cut of 56% compared to an average cut, overall, of 32%.
