‘Boots on the ground’ in Phoenix

‘Boots on the ground’ in Phoenix

tempI got a shout out from Liz in the company Slack channel for my “boots on the ground” reporting for two stories in that week’s very newsy holiday newswire on July 5: “Philips recall: Vent providers in wait-and-see mode” and “’Flat out miserable’: Pacific Northwest providers work through heatwave.”

What she means by that is really talking with providers in the trenches to paint a picture of what’s going on out there for the larger audience, and where appropriate, staying informative. I rely on the providers who take the time to fill me in.

This week, I’m literally boots (well, sandals, it’s 96 degrees at 9am as I write this) on the ground attending the inaugural Medtrade West here in Phoenix. I’m tasked with taking the temperature of attendees, getting a feel for what the hottest concerns and trends are, whether folks are ready to get back out there in person and the latest gossip.

This year, in light of the ongoing pandemic fallout, I am the only person from HME News here this year (HME News ambassador is what they are calling me. Liz likes to flatter me into doing things. It works). Like so many other people around the globe, we’ve prioritized. Our booth (631) is bare bones.

I look forward to seeing familiar faces and making new connections. See you on the show floor. And on Twitter. And Facebook.
