Joseph Gaskins never could have imagined what American Orthopedic Services might become when he founded it in 1957 in Pontiac, Mich.
Now called Aleva Health, the company still occupies the same storefront it has for 40 years and is still owned by the Gaskins family, with grandson Derek as president.

When Charleen Kuczynski launched an e-mail newsletter for her company, O&P supplier WBC Industries, she faced difficult decisions.
"There is a lot to consider," said Kuczynksi, WBC's director of marketing. "How often (it) will be sent, how to get a subscriber base, what newsletter design should be used, how to maintain it and what will keep (people) from clicking the 'unsubscribe' link."

Pride Mobility and Quantum Rehab announced in February the stops for its new educational tour. The 2011 Professional Education Partnership will stop in 24 cities beginning in Orlando in March and ending in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., in October. The tour features courses like "Mobility Product Troubleshooting and Repair."

LAKE FOREST, Calif. - Apria Healthcare has completed its purchase of Praxair's U.S. homecare business, the provider announced March 7. Praxair offered home respiratory services, home medical equipment and enteral nutrition through more than 80 locations nationally. Apria offers home respiratory services, home medical equipment and home infusion through 500 locations nationally. Apria has more than $2 billion in annual revenues.
