WASHINGTON – Mike Hamilton, executive director of the Alabama Durable Medical Equipment Association, received the 2025 Mal Mixon Legislative Advocate Award during the AAHomecare Washington Legislative Conference.
“This year’s award coincides with Mike’s 50th fly-in to Capitol Hill—a truly remarkable milestone that underscores his lifelong commitment to advocacy,” the association said. “That’s five decades of walking the halls of Congress, raising the voices of Alabama providers and passionately representing our industry.”
Hamilton started out more than 50 years ago at his family’s business, Hamilton Oxygen Service, where he saw firsthand the role that DME plays in improving lives.
In 1972, he co-founded ADMEA, setting the stage for organized advocacy in Alabama., where his influence has been critical for legislative wins like Alabama’s H.B. 225, and securing sales and rental tax relief in the state.
On a national level, he has served on the board of directors of NAMES, actively participated in HIDA and AAHomecare, and shared insights at Medtrade.
